- Sufficient fluid
- Sufficient permeability
Process:
- Drill into reservoir
- Bring fluid up through production well to generate electricity
- Injection well returns cooler water back down
Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS)
Elements:
- Hot rock found
- Low permeability
- Insufficient fluid flows
Process:
- Fluid injection into hot rocks, creating new fractures
- Fluid drawn up through production well to generate electricity
